GEWEX outreach consists of engaging scientists who are just starting their careers or who are still in school. Involving researchers who are interested in GEWEX-related topics builds on the community of volunteer scientists who make up GEWEX. It also helps pull in new talent and ensures that the next generation will be able to operate and improve on the technologies built by the current generation of scientists.
GEWEX outreach activities for students and Early Career Scientists (ECSes) include workshops, summer sessions, and special lectures and events at conferences. For example, a GEWEX summer session for students and ECS was held at the Delft University of Technology prior to the 2014 International GEWEX Science Conference. Many of the GEWEX Regional Hydroclimate Projects hold training sessions for students and ECSes.
